Developing Our BTEC Level 2 ICT Resources

This year has been a really excellent year for KnowItAll Ninja. Thousands of students from hundreds of schools have signed up to use our gamified elearning BTEC Level 2 ICT resources to study for their Unit 1 The Online World and Unit 2 Technology Systems online tests.

I’ve received some fabulous feedback from teachers across the UK about how much they love using the site and how it has benefited their students. For example:

Congratulations on an excellent and valuable resource. As an ICT/Computing teacher for both level 3 and level 2 courses, this website has delivered exactly what is needed (and is desperately missing) from the examination board’s support services.

However this is just the start for KnowItAll Ninja and I’m working on expanding our already excellent resources for Unit 1 The Online World and Unit 2 Technology Systems.

Improving our BTEC Level 2 ICT Resources

You’ve probably already seen the new videos that have been getting added to Unit 1 The Online World over the past couple of months. These will continue to be added until each lesson in both Unit 1 Online World and Unit 2 Technology Systems have their own dedicated explainer video.

You will notice also that in the past few weeks all of the text based content from each of the BTEC Level 2 ICT lessons have been updated. This is to make the lessons even more accessible, and ensure coverage of the specification is comprehensive.

I’m confident you won’t find better coverage of the externally assessed units anywhere else.

Just this week the brand new student tracker system has been added to KnowItAll Ninja too. This will allow teachers to monitor their students progress in all of the lessons so that they can be sure the students are understanding the content being taught and are completing their tasks.

We’ll be adding a new blog post all about the new students tracker very soon so you can see exactly how it works.

Of course, KnowItAll Ninja isn’t going to be just about the BTEC First ICT qualification. I’m working on adding a number of new courses to cover topics such as BTEC Level 3 ICT & Computing. I’ll also be adding courses on the new BTEC Tech Awards and Tech Certs that are being developed by Pearson and I’ve been asked to work on the books for. Other non-ICT subjects will certainly be added soon too.

Subscribing to our BTEC Level 2 ICT Resources

One final change you’ll see to KnowItAll Ninja is that the site is a paid subscription site. For most of last year school’s could access KnowItAll Ninja completely for free.

The goal was to see if the site could run on it’s own using advertising to cover the costs of running the site, but it is clear that advertising was not working for the site. After speaking to several teachers that are using the site, I came up with a payment model that I felt would help keep the site running but make it very affordable for school’s.

So to keep the site alive, KnowItAll Ninja will require school’s to take out a subscription in order to access it’s gamified BTEC Level 2 ICT resources. This is at a very low cost of £2 per student per year and is completely flexible. If you aren’t satisfied you can even get a full refund within the first 14-days so there is no risk involved. I’m sure it won’t be needed though.

We’ll look more into the subscription reasoning and process in a future post. However, if you’d like some information now then you should check out the subscription page right now.

If you have any questions then don’t be afraid to contact me, I’m happy to answer any and all questions and help you in anyway I can.
